Ever since the crisis struck Ukraine, AMDA has sent 14 aid workers to neighbouring Hungary from March to October 2022 to help Ukrainian evacuees that fled war zones. During that time, the staff members comprising five doctors, six nurses, and three coordinators engaged in aid work. It included medical relief activities, as well as the provision of food items, medical supplies, and other necessities.

In light of the protracted crisis, AMDA has been continuously working with Hungarian and Ukrainian humanitarian organizations to deliver much needed assistance. A total of four local partners, namely, MedSpot and “Varda Hagyomanyorzo, Kulturalis Egyesulet” (both based in Hungary), St. Michael’s Center for Medical and Social Rehabilitation of Children as well as Dynasty Medical Centre (Ukraine), have been collaborating with AMDA to respond to vital needs on the ground.

From 15 to 20 May 2023, two personnel from AMDA have been visiting Hungary to discuss further assistance with the aforementioned local counterparts, while assessing current situations surrounding Ukrainian evacuees.

In March 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan approved AMDA’s request for a grant contract (Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects) to allow the continuation of the ongoing aid work. The grant will mainly be used for purchasing relief items to be delivered to Ukraine.
