Publication date:2015-12-30

AMDA continued its relief activities for the Typhoon Melor disaster in collaboration with our local partner DAP (Development Academy of the Philippines). On the 29th of Dec. they conducted mobile clinic, food and cloths distribution at barangay Zone1 in Victoria province.

The team comprised of 2 doctors, one nurse, and 7 volunteers from DAP and AMDA. They started the clinic at 8am and completed at about 18:00 consulting and providing services to more than 350 patients. There were 168 adults and 187 children with a total combinatioan of  128 male and 227 female attended the clinic. Due to Christmas/ New Year holidays, Zone 1 had no doctor available and the local medical facilities lack many medicines and that was the reason behind for our team to choose Zone 1 for this mission.

Most common signs and symptoms among the adults were Respiratory diseases, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis of the knee and Urinary Tract Infection while among children it was respiratory diseases, diarrhea and skin infections with some cases of general cold, cough and fever.

AMDA also distributed 200 packages of chicken porridge and about 220 relief packs each containing different items such as cloths, sandals, blankets, towels and children toys.
