At a ceremony held at the Presidential Secretariat Colombo on 02 January 2018, AMDA Sri Lanka Chairperson Dr. Sarath M. Samarage met Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena to hand an international award. President Sirisena was awarded the International Federation of NGOs Award for the Head of State in Macau in November 2017, and it was Dr. Samarage who received the award on his behalf as Dr. Samarage now heads Sri Lanka Federation of NGOs against Drug Abuse.
Dr. Samarage has always committed himself to a good cause while maintaining his position as AMDA Sri Lanka Chairperson. His pursuit of peaceful society has blossomed in AMDA Peace Building Programme (AMDA PBP), a yearly project which brings together the youths from different ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds to nurture mutual understanding and respect, which resonates with AMDA’s motto: Coexistence of Diversity.
