AMDA’s medical team which had been dispatched to Asahikawa in Japan’s northern Hokkaido Prefecture completed its aid work and left the worksite on 4 January 2021.
The team was sent to assist a coronavirus-hit facility for persons with severe motor and intellectual disabilities (SMID) at the time when the viral infection had ravaged the city. Prior to the relief work, the local municipality and other organizations coordinated with AMDA to decide its work location.
During this relief effort which began on 15 December last year, AMDA sent a total of four staff comprising three nurses and one coordinator.
