Publication date:2020-12-22

Since 14 December 2020, AMDA Headquarters in Okayama, Japan, has sent a relief team to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak ravaging through Hokkaido Prefecture in the northern part of the nation whose medical system has been pushed to the brink.

Through its contact, AMDA was inquired by the Asahikawa City health bureau chief to dispatch medical personnel to support local medical facilities that are facing a serious manpower shortage. The AMDA team, comprising two nurses and one coordinator, started aid work on the 15th.

As of now, the team has been stationed at a coronavirus-hit local facility for persons with severe motor and intellctual disabilities (SMID).

AMDA staff are expected to take charge of their duties in turn for the time being.
