An earthquake with a magnitude 6.4 on scale hit Kumamoto prefecture of Kyushu region in Japan at 9:26pm on April 14th, 2016. Many affected people fled out of their houses after experiencing major aftershocks and stayed outside during the night.
Currently, 15 evacuation centers have been established in Mashiki town, and one elementary school in the town had 200 people evacuated from their houses.
In response to this situation, AMDA jointly with Soja city in Okayama decided to dispatch a team to the affected areas in Mashiki town of Kumamoto and the team departed Soja city on April 15th for initial assessment and relief activities in the affected areas.
According to the local media there are 9 death and more than 950 injured as of April 15th.
