AMDA Emergency Relief #51: Crisis in Ukraine

Publication date:2026-02-04

Activity Report: Dynasty Medical Center (Ukraine) - August-November 2025

Since the onset of the Ukraine humanitarian crisis, AMDA has been partnering with four aid groups in Ukraine and neighboring Hungary to extend a helping hand to those persevering through the challenging circumstances.

Dynasty Medical Center in Kharkiv is one such example that strives to deliver medical aid to evacuees from the nation’s eastern areas, where fierce battles continue. With no prospect of an end to the war, AMDA’s financial assistance and item donations have enabled some of its patients to continuously receive treatment free of charge.

During a periodic online briefing in late November 2025, Dynasty’s medical director reported on their recent activities and daily operations on the ground.

Although not audible, AMDA’s project officers in charge were strongly reminded of the reality of the ongoing war, when they were told that siren alerts were being issued on the other side of the screen. Nevertheless, the Dynasty team pointed out that not many people in Kharkiv would be bothered to evacuate as the sirens would go off every half an hour.

As for the country’s infrastructure, it was reported that power outages have become the norm, with people spending longer hours of the day without electricity.

Fortunately, the heating system has remained relatively stable because the gas supply is less affected. Daily supplies of food and essential items have been circulated effectively, although it greatly depends on the day and location.

Reporting on its medical activities, the center shared a case of a tumor patient suffering from nasopharyngeal cancer. Under AMDA’s financial assistance, the patient was able to undergo surgical removal of tumors. Although bleeding continued for a while due to impaired blood coagulation (stemming from physical effects of the Chernobyl incident in the past), the patient was successfully discharged from the hospital after a few days.

The director noted that the continuity of patient treatment largely owed to an adequate supply of medicines they had stocked earlier. Some drugs are in short supply; however, this has allowed the patients to benefit from the center’s medical services for the time being.

By working closely with Dynasty Medical Center, AMDA will continue to assist those in need.
