AMDA Emergency Relief #3: Earthquakes in Cebu and Mindanao, Philippines

Publication date:2025-10-28

On 20 October, AMDA completed its relief activities in response to successive earthquakes that struck the Philippines from the end of September to early October. The response efforts were carried out in Cebu and Mindanao, which suffered severe damage. The mission lasted approximately a week in total, including the arrival of the Japanese team in the Philippines on 13 October and subsequent preparations.

To conclude its mission, AMDA's relief team paid a courtesy call to the town governor of Medellin in Cebu, and visited some of the affected sites such as the “Tent City” to grasp the situation. After reporting activities, both parties exchanged opinions based on the current state of the locality.

The team held a wrap-up meeting the following day to complete all of the relief activities. The Japanese aid workers left the Philippines on 22 October.
