Activity Report (June – July 2025): City of Goodness (Ukraine)

The City of Goodness, an aid organization based in western Ukraine, is accommodating evacuees from the nation’s eastern front. The evacuees include families whose children have special medical needs.
Currently, 60 of these children are under the care of the Butterfly House, a children’s hospice run by the organization. However, the facility has stopped accepting new patients as there are no vacancies available for now.
Since last year, AMDA has provided financial assistance to the
City of Goodness. While the funds have been used to purchase medicines and medical supplies, they have also covered approximately 20 percent of the facility’s food budget.

Ms. Marta Levchenko, founder of the City of Goodness, shared her account of the facility’s daily challenges:
“Securing three meals a day for 300 people is a lot of work. You’d have to use your creativity to come up with different menu items, because you cannot provide the same food for every meal.
“You also need to understand that unexpected things frequently occur in our facility. For instance, last month, we had to urgently immunize everyone when chickenpox and the flu broke out.
“Because there is no vaccination program provided by the government, we had to do it by ourselves. Now that we have completed the chickenpox vaccination, the flu vaccination is scheduled for next month.
“Dealing with such dynamic needs, AMDA’s assistance really counts.”
In light of these circumstances, AMDA will be extending support to the City of Goodness for an additional period of one year, starting this month.
