AMDA Peace Clinic Activity Report (October – November 2024)
Publication date:2025-01-23
AMDA Peace Clinic (APC) in Bodhgaya, India, has been actively carrying out programs to support pregnant women, mothers and children since 2014.
APC makes it a point to deliver coherent assistant by regularly reviewing and improving the services it provides. For instance, the clinic started covering part of the expenses required for an ultrasound, which pregnant women needed to bear, in 2023 based on the feedback that some women had not been able to receive the test due to financial reasons (as well as the lack of knowledge).
With this assistance, those who regularly visit the clinic have now been able to receive a sonogram every two months, thereby allowing them to observe the growth of their babies more closely.
The number of women that came to the clinic for 1) an ultrasound, and 2) a maternity class between October and November 2024 is as follows (*each figure shows a cumulative total):
[Ultrasound] October: 47 (3 new patients), November: 57 (7 new patients) [Maternity class (heath education and nutrition workshop)] 99 A woman who participated in the maternity class gave the following comment: “My neighbour introduced me to APC and this is my second time joining the class. Today’s topic was about the nutritional needs of babies. I didn’t know that it wasn’t good for infants to eat the same food as what we mothers eat because the food can be too strong for them. Also, nutritious soup made with moringa and vegetables was served at the end. I was glad to be able to learn something new and sample a healthy dish. I really appreciated that.”
