Publication date:2018-08-07

On 5th August, a 7.0-Magnitude earthquake hit East Lombok, Indonesia. According to UN OCHA on 6th August, 82 people died and hundreds are missing.

AMDA Indonesia has dispatched the medical team to Lombok on 1st August after a 6.4-Magnitude earthquake hit Lombok on 29th July. For the following four days, the team has conducted the mobile clinic and distributed clothes to the affected people and balloons for the affected children from the earlier earthquake.

A day after another earthquake hit Lombok on 5th, the team went to Provincial Public Hospital in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggar, near the epicenter. They found that the emergency services at hospital were overwhelmed with patients while other patients were being treated in parking lots of the hospital. To respond to the needs, AMDA Indonesia has decided to dispatch the second medical team with three anesthesiologists on 8th.
