In February 2018, United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Doctor Ali Kadar conducted medical support at the AMDA clinic in the Rohingya refugee camp. Dr. Ali, formerly deputy commissioner of the UNRWA department of health, was born and raised as a Palestine refugee in UN refugee camps. Having experienced life in a refugee camp himself, supporting the Rohingya refugees was a special opportunity for him. The following is a report from Dr. Ali regarding his experience at the Rohingya refugee camp:

My first motive to join this mission comes from my personal understanding about the importance of the international humanitarian aid to a people in a dire situation. I myself was a Palestine refugee, born and raised in a camp established by the UN. Humanitarian aid from the international community has provided my family with medical care and food, and I was able to attend

From 1st to 13th February 2018, AMDA dispatched a nurse, Harumi Oshitani, to provide medical support at the Rohingya refugee camp. Ms. Oshitani made the following report regarding her experiences working with two UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East) doctors who were also dispatched to the AMDA clinic:

The doctors from UNRWA were refugees themselves. They sought opportunities to study abroad and strived to become doctors under difficult circumstances.

                    May 2018 Report
AMDA's continued medical support for the Rohingya community
It has been roughly half a year since AMDA started its medical support at the Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh in October 2017. Located in Camp 1W in the Kutupalong Expansion Site, with the exception of Fridays (a Holy day in Islam), AMDA's clinic continues to see an average of 120 patients over a five-hour period every day. The clinic's medical team consisting of nine members (two doctors, a midwife, an operations coordinator, four medical assistants and a Rohingya assistant) provides free medical treatment and medicine to those who need it. Currently, the majority of patients are treated for ailments such as diarrhea, coughs, fever and skin disease. However, due to a lack of medical machinery and technology available, more complicated cases which require medical tests are referred to a larger, local medical facility set up by UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency).

                      November 2017 Report
Starting medical support at the Rohingya refugee camp
AMDA started its medical support at the Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh in October 2017. From August 2017, a substantial number of Rohingya people, believed to now be over one million, became displaced from their homes in Myanmar as a minority Muslim community. It has become a global humanitarian crisis. Due to such a large influx of people, the number has already reached far beyond the capacity of the facilities built for them so far. Furthermore, the number of displaced persons is continually increasing. Living in makeshift tents made from bamboo and plastic sheets with limited food, they have no choice but to live in conditions of very poor levels of sanitation. Acknowledging this situation, under the lead of AMDA Bangladesh, AMDA began its medical support activities at the Rohingya camp.
